The Goddess is making a major comeback in our culture… She shows up as the cat goddess Bast in the movie Black Panther. Bast offers the vision of a heart-shaped herb granting superpowers to the warrior-shaman who eventually becomes king, the first Black Panther and hero-protector of the fictional African nation Wakanda. And she is Diana, the compassionate super-heroine in the movie Wonder Woman. As a descendent of a race of immortal super-women based on the Greek myth of the Amazons, Diana grows up in the fictional nation of Themyscira. Located on a magical Paradise island, Themyscira has been left untouched by the hostile male-dominated world. Eventually, Diana sets out on a mission to save humanity from the ravages of World War I, the war that was supposed to end all wars… Utterly oblivious of patriarchal gender roles at a time of strict societal norms, Diana pursues her noble goal with an innocent heart and fierce determination when faced with the countless atrocities she witnesses as she enters the world of humans in areas ravaged by the war.

Yet the Goddess expresses herself not only in strong and iconic female super-heroines such as Diana in Wonder Woman. She also acts as an evolutionary catalyst of all major grassroots and social justice movements aiming at making this world a place that works for all, not just the privileged few. The Goddess is the driving force behind Black Lives Matter, the Women’s Marches, the #MeToo movement, and all environmental organizations protecting goddess Gaia/Earth, to name just a few. Finally, the Goddess expresses herself also in the new archetype of the evolutionary woman whom visionary of conscious evolution Barbara Marx Hubbard calls the “Feminine Co-Creator.” For the first time in thousands of years, women now have the opportunity to give birth to their authentic feminine Self and to participate consciously in the process of cultural evolution. Yet it’s important to emphasize that the Feminine Co-Creator is not seeking to be equal to men by emulating them, which would only reinforce and perpetuate some of the existing dysfunctional patterns. Rather, this new evolutionary woman is engaged in a co-creative partnership with evolutionary men. It may very well be the rise of conscious women into the role of evolutionary agents that will save the world at this critical juncture in time and history as we are faced with major global crises and also witness the emergence of new paradigms and values.
